An attempt to improve the homepage of gigtown

Who are the users? 👤

  1. Local Musicians and Artists: The platform was designed to help these individuals find more gigs and opportunities to perform live. It provided tools for scheduling, managing their bookings, and promoting their events. Gigtown served as a resource for musicians looking to gain exposure and build their careers.
  2. Venues: Bars, restaurants, cafes, and other spaces that regularly host live music were potential users of Gigtown. The platform aimed to simplify the process of finding and booking musicians, making it easier for venues to host live music events that would attract patrons and enhance the venue’s ambiance.
  3. Music Fans and General Public: Gigtown also catered to individuals who enjoy live music and sought to discover local artists or attend live performances in their area. The platform provided these users with a convenient way to explore their local music scene, discover new artists, and keep track of upcoming gigs.

Our goal for this redesign is to boost two essential business metrics. 

1. Increase Conversions of Gigtown - When Gigtown website clearly communicate what the company does, what services they offers, how can we improve user engagement, increasing the number of musician sign-ups, enhancing the booking process, or boosting the overall user experience to drive more conversions.

2. Easy Navigation - We have redesigned Gigtown homepage to make it easier for users to explore their website and find what they're looking for easily.

🔍Audit of the Current Website

At first, we started with doing the Audit of the current website of Gigtown. We did the Heuristics Evaluation of the website to find the Usability issues & we also reviewed the basic structure of a homepage, as recommended by NN Group research.

When We started approaching the design problem, we sketched out some options for how we could improve the existing design and resolve the above-mentioned problems.

⚡Final Solution

Now I will show you the Section-by-section Changes we made to the website.

Hero Section

1.Added a hero section which clearly indicates the intent of the website
2.Changed the UI of the hero section and made it to better UI by adding a background which resonates to the website.
3.Added a search bar where users can search for the venues and artist without any hesitation.
4.The top section has artist signup, shows and browse artist section, where users can signup as artist, look for the shows and browse artist of their likes.

Select Category section

1. The user can select the category of the venue he likes, this gives the user to select from different options as per his needs.
2. The user can preview the artist that will be playing in each venue and can select as per the artist he likes.
3. This section was not their in the gigtown page and I found out they have different venue category but it is not mention. So I thought of adding this section.

Shows near you section

1. I have added a shows near you section so that the user can easily check which shows are near to the user and can book them easily.
2. I have improved the card section by adding a clear image of the event, the name of the venue, the price, the ratings, images of the venue, artist that will be playing, and a book cta.
3. The previous card did not have much information about the artist that will be playing in the venue, the price etc.
4. I have also added a calendar, so user can easily put the reminder of their show in their calendar.

Trending shows section

1. Gigtown website missed the trending shows section
2. I have kept the trending section bigger so that it catches the attention of the user.
3. The section gives the user social proof that other people are also liking these venue so it gives them a social proof to book this venue.

How it works section

1. I have added a how it works section so that the user do not face issue with understanding the process of booking the event.
2. The user can easily book the event and enjoy his show.

Video Section

1. I have added a video section so that user can see the performance of different artist
2. The user will get an idea of how the experience feels like from the video, this will make him want to book the show as he has idea of how will the event be held.

Artist Section

1. I have added a section to showcase the trending artist in the platform
2. The gigtown website had no section showcasing the artist
3. The artist section will increase the engagement of the user and will also want them to check more artists.
4. I have added the name of the artist, his review, the descrpition and the genre that the artist performs.

Categories Section

1. The user can select from the category of music that he likes.
2. The user has the freedom to select from different categories so it makes him want to enagage more in the website and keep coming back for different shows.
3. The main gigtown website did not have this section so I have added this section.

Maps Section

1. I have added a map section so user can search for event as per their locations.
2. They can also search for locations based on which locations they are travelling to or want to travel.
3. This allows them the freedom to search for different venues and variety of artist.

Footer Section

1. Changed the UI of the footer and made it a much better UI.
2. Added a background image to footer, which resonates much with the website
3. Added a description of gigtown and also added social network sites.

in the homepage and what will increase much more engagement and conversions for Gigtown
